ROME: Sporting Lisbon, Sparta Prague and Olympique de Marseille joined AC Milan in the last 16 of the Europa League, with the Italian side completing a 5-3 aggregate win over Rennes despite being beaten 3-2 on Thursday in a thrilling encounter.

Rennes, trailing 3-0 following the first leg, threatened to pull off an incredible comeback thanks to Benjamin Bourigeaud's hat-trick but in the end Milan made sure they progressed thanks to goals from Luka Jovic and Rafael Leao.

Sparta Prague recovered from a 3-2 first-leg defeat by Galatasaray to upset the Turkish giants with a 4-1 home win to advance 6-4 on aggregate.
