KUALA LUMPUR: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has recognised the impressive goal scored by Harimau Malaya winger Faisal Halim during the recent Asian Cup in Doha, Qatar.

AFC listed Faisal's strike against South Korea in their final Group E match as one of the eight best goals in the tournament.

Fans can now vote for the best goal through the AFC website.

Other goals nominated were scored by Son Heung Min (South Korea), Keito Nakamura (Japan), Abdulrahman Ghareeb (Saudi Arabia), Hassan Al Haydos (Qatar), Supachok Sarachat (Thailand), Mousa Al Tamari (Jordan) and Sardar Azmoun (Iran).

Nicknamed Mickey, Faisal tormented the Korean backline with his mazy runs, and cleverly beat Bayern Munich defender Kim Min Jae before scoring from an acute angle with a swerving shot during the match at the Al Janoub Stadium on Jan 25.

The match ended in a 3-3 draw.

For the record, the Asian Cup saw 132 goals, with hosts Qatar retaining their title.
