KUALA LUMPUR: Some Kedah Darul Aman (KDA FC) players who are owed salary arrears by their employer have resorted to doing odd jobs in order to survive and get by, since the club's management has been silent, with no news or updates.
"There are some players who have had no choice but to take up freelance and part-time jobs as dishwashers and helpers at school canteens in order to survive as the club's management continues to keep mum," a source revealed.
This was among the grouses raised by Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) players who continue to suffer and wonder when the salary arrears issue that has plagued them for the past four months will be resolved.
The source explained that the players were devastated and concerned that some of them had resorted to working part-time or freelancing as dishwashers at restaurants or as helpers in school canteens.
Earlier it was reported that KDA FC's salary arrears crisis was still unresolved, and the situation was getting from bad to worse.
It is not just the senior squad that competes in the Super League that have not been paid their salaries, but it is a similar situation faced by the club's other teams.
For the record, in October last year, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar, the owner of KDA FC had confirmed that it was facing financial problems in the form of salary arrears involving the first team that competes in the Super League and for other teams under the club.
In the press conference that was streamed live on KDA FC's Facebook page, Mohd Daud Mohd Daud apologised to the people of Kedah, particularly football fans in the state, as well as the coaching staff and the players.
He promised not to shirk his responsibilities and will do everything possible to remedy the salary arrears issue that has plagued the squad.
