ALOR STAR: Kedah FC are surprised to find themselves announced, by someone else, that they are to play Neymar's former club, Santos FC in Alor Star on Feb 17.
Kedah acting chief executive officer Shahrul Samsudin said yesterday they were approached by an agent of the promoter at the beginning of the year regarding the friendly match but nothing was agreed upon.
"We got an offer from the promoter to bring a famous club from Brazil, Santos FC, to Kedah for a friendly match, and was given a date of Feb 17.
"But we had informed them that we are not ready for the match because we haven't started training (then).
"However, we were surprised to find Santos releasing the match schedule on the club's official website two days ago.
"We asked the promoter again, and he said that there was a misunderstanding."
Fans will be disappointed that there will be no samba stars in Alor Star.
