KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah FA (KFA) has confirmed that its chief executive officer, Zulkifli Che Haron, has been released on bail amid investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The confirmation came through a statement released by KFA, which also provided details on the CEO appointment process and revenue generation justification.

In the statement, KFA media committee and public relations chairman Ibrahim Ismail said: "Zulkifli was called to assist an ongoing MACC investigation on Thursday, Jan 4. At 9:25pm, MACC informed the lawyers of the arrest, and he was remanded on Jan 5.

"Zulkifli was released on MACC bail today around 10am after providing his testimony along with three others."

He added: "KFA has no affiliations with state projects and revenues are generated through contributions from companies and corporate bodies, with all funds recorded in the association's financial report."

Zulkifli assumed the role of CEO in August 2020.

"The case is still at an early stage, and the association denies any involvement in bribery. An individual is not guilty until proven otherwise."

On Friday, Zulkifli was among the four individuals remanded for allegedly soliciting and receiving bribes amounting to RM6 million three years ago.
