DOHA: Diminutive winger Faisal Halim has urged his national teammates to defy the critics and redeem themselves against South Korea in their last Asian Cup group match on Thursday.

The national team came under fire from fans and the media after suffering two straight defeats (4-0 to Jordan) and (1-0 to Bahrain) last week.

Faisal called on his teammates to shrug off the criticism and show strong mental power against the Koreans.

The 26-year-old said the flak that the Malaysian team received is "normal" when they do not get the desired result.

"Criticism is normal, when we win everything is good and when we lose, all kinds of criticism will come.

"There are plenty of 'coaches' out there, but as players we have to accept what people say," said Faisal at the team's hotel in Doha yesterday.
