KUALA LUMPUR: The M-League has become a one-horse race and it's time for the Southern Tigers to hunt abroad.

Football pundit Datuk Richard Scully feels that Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) should seek bigger challenges internationally and let their second team compete in the Super League instead.

This, he feels, will generate healthy rivarly and more interest in the Super League.

He said if all the teams have JDT's financial power, then the M-League would be more competitive, but it is not possible when many teams have problems paying their players year in, year out.

"It has become normal, even before the season begins, we know who will be the league leaders.

"So, fans are changing their focus and paying more attention to the fight for second and third placing instead, because that will be more interesting."

Richard said this after the Kedah versus Selangor match for second placing on Saturday (Selangor won 1-0) saw a sold-out crowd of over 20,000 fans at the Darulaman Stadium.

"The teams fighting for second and third are on par. But they can't catch up with the leaders (JDT).

"We know JDT have raised the bar in the domestic league, so why not focus on bigger tournaments, and let their second team play here. That way we'll see a more balanced and healthy competition in the Super League.

"My comments aren't laced with bad intentions, it's constructive criticism to ensure the league sees a healthy competition."

"JDT spoke about raising the bar, they have done so, and thank you very much. But let's play equal football, that will benefit everyone," said Richard.

JDT, who have dominated the Super League for 10 straight years, are on track to achieving a treble for the second straight season should they beat Terengganu in the Malaysia Cup final on Friday. They won the FA Cup in July.
