KUALA LUMPUR: Yesterday was supposed to be Kelantan's do-or-die day to stay in the Super League.

Their fans waited with bated breath to see whether their beloved club would be given a national licence for them to play in the 2024-2025 season.

But, just a day before the deadline given by the Malaysian Football League's First Instance Body (FIB) for Kelantan FC to settle salaries owing (reportedly close to eight months) to players, their chief executive officer Muzakkir Hamid claimed they had paid close to 90 per cent of the amount owing.

Muzakkir told a television station that Kelantan FC had tried their best and will leave it up to FIB to decide.

"Our hope is for them to accept our efforts. We have abided by FIB's requests and hopefully we will get a licence," he said.

However, Kelantan players said on social media that they had not received a single sen from the club.

"We didn't even get one per cent. What has been resolved?" asked Kelantan Under-23 player Hafizan Ghazali.

Kelantan winger Fazrul Amir shared Muzakkir's claim on his social media page with the comment: "How was it resolved?"

Fazrul's teammate, Muhaimin Izudin, posted: "We don't even see 0.5 per cent of it, what more 90 per cent? Enough with the tall tales."
