ISKANDAR PUTERI: Can KL City embarrass Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) at their fortress in tomorrow's FA Cup final?

KL City captain Paulo Josue believes it is possible against JDT at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium here.

JDT have not lost a match to a local club since their 2-0 defeat to KL City in the Malaysia Cup final in 2021. And the City Boys hope history will repeat itself against a stronger Southern Tigers.

Josue said KL City players are physically and mentally ready to take on the defending champions.

According to Josue, his team have been working on a few strategies and set-pieces in training to make it difficult for JDT.

"Our coach (Bojan Hodak) has studied JDT's tactics. He has been drilling us accordingly in training, so we are ready to fight for the trophy," said Josue during the pre-match conference at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Friday.

"Everyone knows how we will play, but we will surprise them tomorrow.

"We know it is not an easy thing to beat JDT at their fortress. We are well-prepared and have learned from our previous meetings against the champions.

"Our goal is to fight to the death and cause a major upset in the final."

Josue said KL City will be a different team that lost 6-1 to JDT in a recent Super League match.

"Several regulars were unavailable, and we lost tamely," said Josue of the thrashing.

"However, we are not affected by that result. It would be different tomorrow (Saturday)," he said.

He added: "JDT are a complete side filled with star players. We cannot get away by marking just one or two players.

"We have to work well as a formidable unit to stop them from dictating the pace during the final.

"We must stop them from scoring an early goal. We will have a chance if we restrict them."
