Goalkeeper Azurin Mazlan may lead Malaysia's attack when they face hosts Palestine in the women's Asian Cup qualifiers tomorrow.

Azurin, 21, was instrumental between the posts on Sunday as she frustrated World No 39 Thailand on many occasions.

However, the Thais still managed to beat World No 92 Malaysia 4-0.

"Azurin is one of the best players in Malaysia. She reads the game well and is steady.

"If everything goes to plan, I will use her as a striker against Palestine," said national women's coach Jacob Joseph on Sunday.

"We lost a striker during our camp in Kelana Jaya as she tested positive for Covid-19. I had no time to look for a replacement.

"However, I tested Azurin as a striker during training, and she did well. Maybe, I will test her in the first half against Palestine."

Jacob warned his players not to take world No 120 Palestine lightly tomorrow.

"The Palestine players were together for two months before the qualifiers. They even played in the women's Arab Cup, where they lost to Jordan (4-1) and Algeria (4-1).

"As for us, we only had 25 days to prepare for the tournament.

"Furthermore, we did not play friendly matches."
