KUALA LUMPUR: If you are an aspiring youngster with dreams of playing international football, check out the Asean Dream Project.

It’s a project for Under-15 players by Japan’s J-League division one team Cerezo Osaka.

The Japanese club is looking for five of the best under-15 players from Malaysia to play in Osaka in September.

The project is a collaborative effort between Yakult (M) Sdn Bhd, TV Osaka and Cerezo Osaka.

Those who hope for an early international exposure should register at www.yakult.com.my. Entry is free and those selected will be called for audition at USIM Stadium in Nilai on June 23.

Yakult Malaysia managing director, Hiroshi Hamada said the programme will pave the way for the selected homegrown talents to get the opportunity to play alongside 10 of the best Asean players, with five from Thailand and five from Myanmar, in Osaka.

“When we were invited by Cerezo Osaka to ensure the Asean Dream Project is a success, we were happy to come on board as sponsor. We also pray that those involved in this programme would reach their full potential to become a professional footballer in the future,” said Hiroshi

“The direction of the project is in line with Yakult Malaysia’s vision. Last year, we assisted Hadi Fayyadh Abd Razak to play alongside J-League division two team, Fagiano Okayama.

“The project will give the selected players the chance to experience playing in the J-League or play for Cerezo Osaka itself.”

Registration is open until June 10 and the successful applicants will be notified via email of the upcoming try-outs.
