KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian football fans can now breathe a sigh of relief.

Astro announced today that it will continue to telecast live matches of the new UEFA Champions League season which kicks off tomorrow.

Astro Chief of Sports, CK Lee tweeted today: “We are pleased to inform you that the new season of the UEFA Champions League kicks off on Astro tonight.

“Watch the matches live on Astro TV and Astro GO.”

Earlier there were fears that Astro would not show live matches of the new Champions League season when it did not confirm fans’ queries.

A statement posted on the Astro Facebook page on Monday had said: “Hi all, we apologise for an earlier post on the UEFA Champions League's broadcasting rights. The negotiations have taken longer than expected as there are multiple parties we need to speak to. Rest assured that we will try to get an agreement before kick-off. We will provide an update on the outcome very soon. Thank you.”
