PAHANG coach Dollah Salleh hopes his players will win the FA Cup on Saturday following the heartbreak last year.

The east coast side edged Perak SEDC 3-2 on aggregate after a 2-1 win in Ipoh on Sunday.

Austin Amutu (32nd minute) and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha (75th) netted for Pahang while Franklin Anzite reduced the deficit in the 82nd minute.

In last year’s final, Kedah defeated Pahang 3-2 at the Shah Alam Stadium.

“We were lucky today (Sunday) as Perak SEDC were aggressive in search for goals. My players, however, played to tactics and also maintained their focus to deny the club,” said Dollah yesterday.

“Our opponents appeared to be more organised but they just could not take their chances. However, I have to praise them as they were not afraid despite being the underdogs. I am proud of my team for achieving this win.”

Pahang will face 33-time Malaysia Cup champions Selangor in the final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.

For the record, Selangor have won the FA Cup five times, the last being in 2009, while Pahang have hoisted the trophy twice.

“Selangor has a good track record as they are the only team to have won the title five times.

“We need to prepare well and analyse their game. Although, we are seen as favourites, I will remind my players not to be overconfident,” Dollah added.
