KUALA LUMPUR: After all the uncertainty, cyclist Azizulhasni Awang wil compete in the keirin event of the Adelaide leg of the Track Nations Cup tomorrow.

Earlier Azizul, who is recovering from pericarditism, was a doubt, but national head coach John Beasley said the Pocket Rocketman has decided to test himself.

Beasley said he will monitor Azizul's condition, and will withdraw the latter from the competition if are any signs of health issues.

"Azizul knows his body better than anyone. I cannot stop him from racing as he made the call that he wanted to come and see what shape his body was in. He's looking better each day.

"And to be honest, at the slightest sign of distress I will not let him line up," said Beasley.

"After being around him in Adelaide a week ago and seeing him struggle, I know what the signs are.

"Last week, I thought it was the effects of a virus he had a few weeks earlier. We sent him for a full blood test because I was worried and could see that he was run down. They came back good except it showed that he still showed signs of a virus.

"He's a very tough man who does not complain. I have had to become smarter, I also listen to the experts.

"He's still not 100 per cent though he is in a lot better shape than I have seen him for weeks."

Meanwhile, national women's riders Anis Rosidi, Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri and Nurul Aliana Syafika Azizan failed to make the top eight cut in the team sprint event.

The Malaysian trio ranked ninth out of 13 teams after clocking 49.821s. Great Britain finished top with 46.610, China A were second with 47.403 and Poland third at 47.732.
