KUALA LUMPUR: BAM Junior Development head Jeffer Rosobin believes that Malaysia will do well at the Asia Junior Championships from June 28-July 7 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Following the draw for the mixed team event yesterday, Malaysia are in Group B with the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan and Macao.
Based on the draw, Indonesian Jeffer felt that Malaysia have a good chance of winning the team title.
Spearheading Malaysia's challenge will be world No 1 junior pair Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing.
"We have received a favourable draw, we are seeded fourth.
"We're hoping the likes of Aaron-Khang, Siti Zulaikha Azmi and Faiq Haziq will deliver the points," Jeffer said.
On paper, Malaysia should not face any difficulties getting out of the group.
"We'll take each match step by step. We'll adjust our strategy based on the teams we face."
Jeffer expressed the same confidence for the individual events. "We also have quite a good chance in the individual events, especially considering the strong performance from Aaron-Kang in men's doubles.
"We've seen the strength of teams like China, South Korea and Indonesia in men's doubles at the recent Dutch International Juniors where Aaron and Kang became champions.
"This year is also Siti Zulaika's final opportunity, as, since early February, she has consistently performed well by reaching the final in Sri Lanka and making it to the semifinals in both Austria and Germany," he added.
