KUALA LUMPUR: BA of Malaysia (BAM) coaching director Rexy Mainaky has described the badminton venue for the Paris Olympics (July 26-Aug 11) as world-class.

The world's best players are in Paris for the ongoing French Open, adapting to the conditions of the Arena Porte de la Chapelle."

"The venue for the Olympics is very impressive. The conditions on the courts are excellent," said Rexy.

"However, Rexy noted some issues with the lighting, specifically in the middle of the courts.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is aware of the matter and is working to address the problem.

"Four courts are currently in use for the French Open, but BWF has informed us that only three courts will be utilised during the Olympics.

"Apart from the lighting concern, everything else is good," added Rexy.

Rexy hopes his Malaysian pairs will take the opportunity to adapt to the conditions in the arena before the Olympics.

The Super 750 event is being held for the first time at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle, which opened last month.

The multi-purpose arena, constructed at a cost of €125 million (RM641.50 million), has a seating capacity of 8,000 for sports events and officially opened last month.
