Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan have earned the reputation as one of the toughest women's pairs in the world.

The world No 2 were in inspiring form as they produced a memorable performance to lead China to a 3-1 win over Japan in the Uber Cup final in Aarhus, Denmark on Saturday. It was China's 15th Uber Cup victory.

Qingchen-Yifan delivered a jaw-stopping 29-27, 15-21, 21-18 win over Yuki Fukushima-Mayu Matsumoto to level the tie.

Japan had taken the lead earlier through world No 5 Akane Yamaguchi, who defeated Olympic gold medallist Chen Yufei 21-18, 21-10.

"We knew we needed to get a point back, and we played well to make sure of it," said Yifan.

Following their win, world No 9 He Bingjiao made it 2-1 by defeating Sayaka Takahashi 21-9, 21-18.

Huang Dongping-Li Wenmei then sealed the win by overcoming Misaki Matsutomo-Nami Matsuyama 24-22, 23-21 .

Meanwhile, newly formed Malaysian pair Tan Wee Kiong-Tan Kian Meng reached the final of the Dutch Open on Saturday following a 21-13, 21-15 win over France's Eloi Adam-Kenji Lovang.

They played Singapore's Terry Hee-Loh Kean Hean in the final late yesterday.
