BANGKOK: For the second day running, Lee Chong Wei proved what a great Thomas Cup skipper he is for Malaysia.

Chong Wei, who outplayed Denmark’s World champion Viktor Axelsen yesterday, defeated Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting 21-19, 21-16 today in 49 minutes in the men’s first singles of the Thomas Cup finals quarter-finals.

Chong Wei, at aged 36, proved that he is again too wily for 21-year-old Anthony, having beaten the Indonesian last month in the Asian Championships.

Chong Wei said he went early on the attack to be on top of the game against Anthony.
