LETTERS: Inflation is a concern the world over, including in Malaysia.
It is among the main issues raised in the upcoming European parliamentary elections.
A survey by Kapa Research in 10 member countries found four factors to be voters' main concerns in the run-up to the polls: rising cost of living; immigration; war (Ukraine), and the effect of artificial intelligence.
The nations in the Global South also have similar concerns.
In the latest general election in India, for example, one reason cited for the Bharatiya Janata Party's reduced majority was voters' concern about inflation and unemployment.
All over the world, high inflation reduces the purchasing power of people, and it affects other dimensions of social and economic security, such as the affordability of education, healthcare and necessities.
There is a need for innovative ideas at the domestic and global level to address this matter. This would entail addressing flaws in the global economic system.
Malaysians would welcome any move from all parties to come up with innovative strategies for addressing inflation and other economic challenges.
