We fully support the stance of the Selangor Menteri Besar who stated that there is no compromise on corruption offences in the state.

It is a commitment that needs to be emphasized in the fight against corruption and abuse of power to give confidence to the people of Selangor that the state administration is clean and transparent.

Civil service officers in the state need to be a bulwark to ensure that every government administration runs efficiently with integrity.

We are of the opinion that the Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari's assertion that he is closely following several relevant departments and will not hesitate to take action against any individual found guilty, should be supported by all members of the state administration.

The state needs to adopt an approach of educating and enforcing the law so that all public officers do not compromise on corruption offenses and abuse of power.

The Selangor administration must ensure that the symptoms of corruption are eroded to the source.

We also urge that the involvement of NGOs be included in the campaign to combat corruption at all levels. The state government should use a bottom-up approach to erode the symptoms of corruption.

In a situation where the people are now facing a tough time to make ends meet and to continue living a very difficult life during this pandemic, corruption and abuse of power must be curbed completely.

We urge every elected representative to take a clear stance on this issue and work together to eradicate corruption at all levels.

It is true that the concept of the rule of law needs to be upheld, that no one is presumed guilty until proven. The principle of transparency in seeking justice must be upheld.

That the case in the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court which will hear the case of two individuals, a district officer and a surveyor, following the arrest of three individuals including two former Presidents (YDP) of the Municipal Council in Selangor and a contractor last Friday suspected of accepting bribes from contractors, should be carried out so that truth and justice are achieved for those accused.
