PASIR SALAK: Former Pasir Salak member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman says he will not contest in any more elections.
The former Umno Supreme Council member said this included party polls.
"I have been an assemblyman, an MP, a chairman of a government-linked company (GLC) and a deputy minister. It's enough," he told reporters on the sidelines of his Hari Raya open house here in Kampung Gajah.
However, Tajuddin, who has been suspended by Umno, said he was not retiring and that he would continue to serve the party for as long as he lived.
"I just want Umno and Barisan Nasional to rise again and redeem themselves. I will do whatever I can to help," he said, adding there was still time to strengthen Umno
Reflecting on his suspension, Tajuddin said he did not blame the party for the decision.
"What happened to me (suspension) is not the party's fault. Certain people are to blame, why should the party be punished?
"We have to differentiate between the party and individuals (in the party). Today, that person is there but tomorrow he may not be," he said without naming anyone.
In October 2022, Tajuddin was suspended for six years from the party, reportedly over his criticism of party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
