Vigneswaran's return to the post was announced by MIC deputy president and Tapah MP Datuk Seri M Saravanan at the party's headquarters here today.

"Tan Sri (Vigneswaran) retained the MIC presidency for a third consecutive term after the party presidential nomination closed at the party headquarters at noon today," he wrote in a post on his Facebook today.

Saravanan, who is the former human resources minister, added that MIC was now more united than ever and forward looking.

"Apart from championing the fate of the community, MIC is the only Indian-based party in the country which places high commitments on the welfare and education of the Indian community," he said.
