KUANTAN: Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail felt it was wiser for former DAP politician P. Ramasamy to remain silent and enjoy his retirement rather than commenting on betrayal because the latter himself is a traitor.
The Pahang menteri besar likened Ramasamy's action to Malay proverb "meludah ke langit, akhirnya jatuh ke muka sendiri" which literally means "if you spit to the sky, it will eventually fall back on your face" as the former Penang deputy chief minister had previously turned his back on DAP.
"It is best for Ramasamy to be quiet rather than giving comments on treason as he himself had betrayed his party when announcing his decision to quit DAP on Aug 10 last year after his name was not shortlisted as among the candidates for the Penang state election.
"After that, he announced the setting up of a new political party, the United Rights of Malaysian Party (Urimai) on Nov 27 last year. Is a traitor qualified to speak about treason?
"I believe the people can judge for themselves who Ramasamy actually is, whereby the statement he issued is akin to 'meludah ke langit, jatuh ke muka sendiri.' Enough of issuing statements that only mislead the people merely just to gain cheap popularity for your own benefit," read the statement.
Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy said Ramasamy should be aware that Umno's cooperation with Pakatan Harapan, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and other parties is to create stability in the country as decreed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong after the 15th general election.
"Alhamdulillah (Praise to Allah) , with the forming of the unity government, we can create mature politics that celebrates every difference to ensure that the people continue to live in harmony, peace and prosperity.
Today, Ramasamy had responded to Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki's statement claiming Bersatu was a party "born out of betrayals" to Umno after the 2018 general election.
Ramasamy claimed that Umno's ally PKR was another clone of Umno as it (PKR) had the same DNA.
