KOTA BARU: Pas believes that Tuesday's cabinet reshuffle by the prime minister is proof that the previous cabinet line-up was "less effective".

Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said it was this which prompted Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to reshuffle the cabinet within a year of taking over the government.

"Hopefully, the new line-up will be effective. Pas would like to congratulate the new ministers and deputy ministers for being selected in the cabinet lineup," he said.

The Kota Baru member of parliament told this to reporters when met at the "Kelantanku Bersih 2023" celebration.

Takiyuddin, however, said Anwar needs to prove that the unity government would prioritise the people's well-being.

"If it is true that the people are important to the unity government, they need to show or prove it in the near future."

On Tuesday, Anwar had announced a revamped cabinet lineup.

He had said the decision was made after discussing the matter with leaders of parties in the unity government.

Anwar's restructured cabinet now comprises 31 ministers, supported by 29 deputy ministers.

This represents a slight expansion from his initial cabinet of 28 members, with assistance from 27 deputy ministers.
