KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is hoping that power grab by leaders here would not happen again to ensure development to take place in the state.

Referring to the week-long Kinabalu Move attempt to topple his administration in January, Hajiji described the move as something "shameful and unethical".

"The government almost collapsed and losing the qualification to continue the administration and leadership.

"The people became anxious. They were worried if there would be another state election.

"It is a situation that shouldn't have happened as it will give the perception of political instability," he said during the annual general meeting for Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah at Sabah International Convention Centre here.

Hajiji, who is also Gagasan Rakyat president, said the Kinabalu Move incident should be shared during the event to remind of "true friends" in politics.

The attempt saw Sabah Umno and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Rakyat lawmakers withdrew their support towards Hajiji.

"Thanks to friends from Pakatan Harapan (PH) and several assemblymen from BN/Umno for continuing to support the government.

"This has led to today's Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-PH plus."

Hajiji said the Sabah government would focus on three cores, namely, political stability, prosperous state and guaranteed wellbeing.

He said a state government would require a reasonable long time and commitment to make Sabah a developed state, but the frequent change of administration and chief ministers had hampered the initiative.

Present were former chief ministers Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Tan Sri Musa Aman, Datuk Yong Teck Lee and Datuk Osu Suka; as well as Sabah PH chairman Datuk Christina Liew, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah president Datuk Arthur Kurup and Sabah Pas commissioner Dr Aliakbar Gulasan.
