KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu has proposed for the anti-party hopping law to be reviewed.

Citing the four Bersatu members of parliament from Sabah who quit the party, yet kept their seats, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said there were flaws in the anti-party hopping law.

"There are flaws and we think it (anti-party hopping law) should be reviewed.

"For example the case that has yet to be decided by the court (on Sabah MPs who quit Bersatu), as well as the four MPs who pledge support for the unity government," he told a press conference after chairing the Bersatu top leadership meeting tonight.

Among those present at the meeting were Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, vice-president Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin, secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal and Srikandi chief Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun.

Muhyiddin added: "At the (Dewan Rakyat) speaker level, he decided that they did not violate the rules.

"We discussed this too. The speaker, in this case, is a PKR stakeholder.

"His decision was somewhat influenced by the fact that he is a PKR member.

"Our views are not the same as the speaker when our views are based on the party's constitution.

"There is some degree of injustice, or injustice that could be compromised.

"Hence, to enforce the punishment effectively, the punishment may not be effectively implemented (due to the flaws of the law)."
