KUALA LUMPUR: DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) member Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham today has called out for Kepala Batas member of parliament (MP) Dr Siti Mastura Mohamad to step down as the people's representative following slander thrown against DAP members.

Ngeh, who is also the Beruas MP, said despite the time given to prove the validity of her claims, the Pas MP remained silent and no strong evidence was given to prove her claims.

"For this reason, she should step down as a leader so the people will not continue to be misled by her.

"The people must know that she has lied and made false accusations, making her untrustworthy.

"(And) she should know what to do (as an MP). As a fellow MP, (I understand) she was chosen by the people, but if the people feel that she's not suitable, the voice of the people should be conveyed to her," he said during a press conference in parliament, today.

Attempts to reach Siti Mastura also failed as she refused to comment when approached by reporters at parliament, today.

Meanwhile, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok said that as an MP, Siti Mastura should be responsible and more aware of her words as they carry weight and could influence many people.

She added that it was also 'unexpected' of an MP to throw such allegations and likened the situation to 'cyber trooper' behaviour.

"Previously, when the accusations that Chin Peng and DAP were related, we initially thought that it was the work of cyber troopers.

"Hence, I never expected a leader, an MP and someone who has the title of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) to believe all the lies on the internet.

"(And) when an MP speaks, our words carry weight and people tend to believe what is being said as true.

"She is an Islamic educator, an ustazah as well, so people are even more inclined to believe what she says is true. Hence, this is highly irresponsible."

Yesterday, DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng demanded Siti Mastura to prove the alleged familial relations between him, Chin and Lee Kuan Yew, stating that the Pas MP would have until Thursday to prove her claims.

This comes after Siti Mastura during one of the programmes in Kemaman, Terengganu reportedly said that the former finance minister has family connections with Chin Peng and Lee.

Through a video speech shared on social media, the deputy head of Penang Pas Muslimat Council also linked Lim and his wife, Betty Chew Gek Cheng to other DAP leaders, namely Anthony Loke, Kok, Nga Kor Ming, and Ngeh.
