KUALA LUMPUR: Former Bachok member of parliament, Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, has been sworn in as a member of the senate in front of the president of the senate, Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, at Dewan Negara today.

Nik Abduh's appointment as a senator by the Kelantan state assembly members comes into effect until July 7, 2026, replacing Mohamad Affandi Mohamad, whose term as senator ended on July 7.

Nik Abduh took the oath as a senator at the ceremony held in the senate, here.

Meanwhile, Wan Junaidi, in his speech, suggested that every member of the senate should be more proactive and creative in ensuring that their intellectual opinions are conveyed to the people through mainstream media and also on social media.

"It is important for the public to generally know that the productive and creative opinions and input from members of the senate play a crucial role in discussing and considering proposals brought from the House of Representatives.

"Simultaneously, this will also reflect and justify the qualifications of the appointed members of the senate based on their professional experience and representation as experts in their respective fields," he said.
