KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno youth chief, Khairy Jamaluddin, described DAP as 'having no more moral boundaries', following the party's reaction to the prosecution's request to release Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi from 47 charges related to Yayasan Akalbudi at High Court, yesterday.

Khairy who is also former Health Minister, said that DAP's morality is even lower than MCA leaders that the party criticised.

"(DAP) is a 'lapdog' that allows the abuse of power. The party appears to be indifferent to this matter because they believe that 95 per cent of Chinese voters will continue to support them," he said via Instagram today.

Earlier, DAP had called for the Attorney General, Tan Sri Idrus Harun, to provide a detailed explanation following the High Court's decision to defer the case of the Deputy Prime Minister from 47 charges of corruption, breach of trust, and money laundering he faces.

DAP's Secretary-General, Anthony Loke, said that the explanation was crucial in consideration of various perspectives on the decision.

Idrus' contract as the Attorney General expired today and he will be replaced by the Solicitor General, Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh, whose appointment will take effect tomorrow.

Yesterday, Judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah released Ahmad Zahid, aged 70, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), after approving the Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar's request, who informed the court that the Attorney General's Department wanted to terminate all proceedings against him at this stage.

The request to halt all proceedings was made during the defence stage, with 15 witnesses having given their testimonies thus far.

Ahmad Zahid faced 47 charges of breach of trust, corruption, and money laundering related to the Yayasan Akalbudi he founded.
