KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today told political parties aligned with the unity government to strengthen their cooperation to face the upcoming state elections.

The Prime Minister, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, also hoped the election machinery of the respective political coalitions could deliver the best services and assistance to the people.

"Nomination for the state elections is on July 29. I hope we can bolster the cooperation within the unity government and provide the best services to the people.

"We have a good (caretaker) Selangor Menteri Besar in Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin. This is the cooperation that we have now.

"We must not forget there are agendas (for the people) that we need to carry out. InsyaAllah (God Willing), we will use the influence and power (awarded to us by the people) to look after the welfare of the rakyat," said Anwar in his speech when he visited a local restaurant here today.

The prime minister also spent almost 30 minutes having lunch with the people in Gombak at the restaurant before proceeding to perform the Friday prayer at al-Khairiyah Mosque.
