KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan will submit a private motion for the anti-party hopping bill to be tabled at the next Sabah state assembly sitting.

Its president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the culture of party hopping in Sabah would become increasingly critical without the bill.

"For us, what is most important, as I have stated before, is that the bill must be brought and tabled in the Sabah state assembly.

"I have prepared a private motion related to it, and I will submit it to the state assembly if the state government does not intend to table it.

"This is allowed by our country's legislation. It is aimed at preventing instability.

"There are already many local parties... It is not the party that is important, but rather, the content (the struggle and direction of the party) that is most important," he said when met by reporters after the breaking of fast programme at Masjid Jamek Kampung Likas, here, yesterday.

To date, Warisan has lost 11 out of 23 assemblymen who won the 2020 state election under the party's ticket.

They are Hassan A Gani Pg Amir (Sebatik), Dr. Yusof Yacob (Sindumin), Mohamaddin Ketapi (Segama), Peter Anthony (Melalap), Juil Nuatim (Limbahau), Rina Jainal (Kukusan), Mohamad Mohamarin (Banggi), Chong Chen Bin (Tanjung Kapor), Norazlina Arif (Kunak), Datuk Awang Ahmad Sah Sahari (Petagas), and George Hiew Vun Zin (Karamunting).
