PENAMPANG: After attempting to topple Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor's government last month, Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) pledges to give its support back to Hajiji.

During the Kinabalu Move, which was triggered by Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin who is also Sabah Umno chairman, the party with three assemblymen had also followed suit to denounce their support following Hajiji's legitimacy after he quit Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

However, its president Datuk Peter Anthony said they are now giving unconditional support to Hajiji.

The decision, he said, was considered following the latest political turmoil in the state as the party wanted to focus on the interest of the people.

"Together with the top leadership in KDM, we have made a decision to give full support to the Chief Minister to lead the highest leadership at the state level.

"Our party would not set any conditions to give this support. What is most important is our efforts to jointly develop the state of Sabah and help the community, especially our voters.

"So, we hope today's announcement of support will allow the political turmoil in Sabah to subside just like the leadership position at the federal level," he said at a press conference at the party headquarters here.

Peter also said that it is up to Hajiji's decision whether or not to accept the unconditional support involved.

"We leave it to the wisdom and openness of the Chief Minister to accept our support or not.

"But from our side, we agree with the Prime Minister's decision because at the Federal level we (KDM) are the government, while Sabah is in the Unity Government," he said.
