KUALA LUMPUR: DAP will use internal approach to handle the call by various parties for action to be taken against Penang Deputy Chief Minister P. Ramasamy over his statement proposing to the Unity Government to break the Bumiputra monopoly in the public service sector.

DAP secretary general Anthony Loke said he (Ramasamy) should not have made such statement as it will only create problems to the government.

"DAP has our way to handle internal matters. So, whatever views from our friends (parties in the government), I say thank you. We will handle issues using our own approach.

"I would like to remind DAP leaders at all levels to not raise any polemic in society," said Loke at a Press conference here.

He said party leaders should change their mindset to that of a leader in government instead of acting like the opposition.

"DAP is now in the government, not only in certain states but at the federal level. When we are in the government, we have to act and think as a government party. This needs a change in mindset and a paradigm shift which will take some time.

"There is no use raising problems, we must find solutions because we are part of the government.

"For me, any leader who raises polemics in society should know that, in our current political sentiment, it is not productive and would not lead anywhere," said Loke.

Ramasamy was reported as saying that the unity government under Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should reform the civil servant so that it is not dominated by one race.

The statement led to various criticism from both the government and opposition with Anwar insisting that the government has no intention to implement Ramasamy's suggestion.

However, Ramasamy today said that several publications had misquoted his Facebook posting on the matter.
