KUALA LUMPUR: The "racial monopoly" in the public service sector remark by Penang Deputy Chief Minister Dr P. Ramasamy is an insult to Malays and the civil service.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia vice-president Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said it highlighted DAP's "allergy" towards Malay dominance.
The former education minister said he was not surprised by the statement because when DAP controlled the government, the effort to break this dominance will become its main focus.
He feared that such kind of racism, if not stopped, could destroy the future of the country.
"Even though DAP tries to show that it is passionate about Malaysia and it respects the community of various races, its racist attitude is still very strong," he said on his social media today.
The Putrajaya member of parliament's followed Ramasamy's post on Facebook yesterday, which called on the unity government to implement reforms in the public service sector, which is currently dominated by Malays.
The Perai assemblyman was quoted as saying that the reason for the alleged participation of many Malays in the public sector was to balance the dominance of the Chinese in the economy, as stated by the former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, could no longer be used.
Radzi said if it was true that the public service sector in Malaysia oppressed non-Malays, then Ramasamy should not have been a professor at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, which is "dominated" by Malays.
He said there were also many non-Malay professors at UKM, a university founded on the spirit of Malay nationalism.
"It is similar in other government ministries, departments and agencies. Many non-Malay officers were accepted into the public service and are promoted on merit and excellence in their service.
"Some have become secretaries-general, deputy secretaries-general, directors general and deputy directors general. There are also specialists in specific fields in their respective fields of expertise. This is not a new thing,"
Radzi slammed Ramasamy for asking the government to reform the public service.
"We know that reform for DAP is just a term to legalise a massive overhaul involving the foundations of statehood and the country's constitution, which has long been the peg that maintains the harmony of Malaysia as a pluralistic nation.
"As expected, (Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will certainly not 'rebuke' Ramasamy, but rather state that it is a personal statement and not DAP's position.
Radzi claimed that it was difficult for the prime minister to force DAP (to take action against Ramasamy) because the party has the largest number of seats in the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional unity government.
"Anwar's position as prime minister is (due to the) courtesy of DAP. Therefore, to remain as prime minister, the relationship with DAP and the party's aspirations must be given priority.
"Imagine if matters that affect other races are touched (upon) by the leaders of the Perikatan Nasional, surely the PH-BN coalition leaders will accuse PN of being racist.
"However, when the DAP Big Brother speaks out that is clearly racist, no one says that this Big Brother is racist!
"I just want to say, we can read the 'grand design' of the PH government which has DAP in it."
