ALOR STAR: The ongoing seats negotiation for the upcoming state polls will be the breaking point which will lead to the end of the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-Barisan Nasional (BN) "marriage of convenience".

Pas national election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor predicted that PH and BN would be clashing over the distribution of seats for the election to be held in six states latest by this July.

"I believe that PH and BN will be fighting over the seats, the distribution is very complicated.

"For sure, Umno will want the Malay majority seats to compete with Perikatan Nasional but the other parties will also demand the (same) seats," he told reporters after presenting incentives to Kedah athletes which excelled in the Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) held in Kuala Lumpur last year.

Commenting further, Sanusi said he believed the "marriage of convenience" between the two former political nemesis was doomed to fail.

"I believe the marriage of convenience is doomed to fail and will end up with a divorce.

"I hope, either it will be 'talak tiga', 'talak dua' or 'talak satu' will happen anytime soon.

"I know for sure, it is very difficult and it looks impossible," he said referring to seats negotiation between PH and BN.

Sanusi hoped that the parties concerned would not be annoyed by his remarks as it was his style to be honest and speak his mind.

He was commenting on the setting up of three committee under the Unity Government Secretariat announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday.

Anwar had announced that the three comprise Strategy Committee, Election Committee, and Government and Political Agendas Monitoring Committee.

He was reported as saying the Election Committee would focus on the elections in six states which are required to be held this year.
