KULIM: Kedah Perikatan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has brushed off accusations made against him by Digital Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi accused Sanusi of being involved in money politics over a viral video of Sanusi during a PN rally where he claimed that voters were complaining about not being paid for returning to vote.

The Kedah Menteri Besar said he was simply advising voters to turn out during polling day on December 7.

"I was advising people to return to their constituency to vote in Padang Serai. No matter how much it costs.

"Whether its 10 ringgit, 50 ringgit or a 1,000 ringgit it doesn't matter, just come and vote because we want Pakatan Harapan to lose.

"I'm just simply urging people to vote, is there anything wrong with that? How come he got 'koyak' (triggered)," he said in a speech during a PN rally in Taman Selasih, Kulim here last night.

Sanusi said Fahmi should have focused on working with his ministry instead of spending time on social media.

"Being a minister is a big responsibility. I read that the the Digital Communications Minister just ordered the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate me.

"Ladies and gentlemen, why is the minister scrolling through TikTok? The Digital Communications minister has to address the Internet coverage and how to set up 5G connection. He's not supposed to be on TikTok," he added.

Meanwhile, Sanusi said Home minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail's statement regarding Barisan Nasional parliamentary seat candidate Datuk C. Sivaraj's withdrawal from the parliamentary seat race was actually an act of corruption.

"Saifuddin said the withdrawal was unconditional but promised that Sivaraj is to be given a role in the government.

"That's corruption. That is what the minister has to go for and investigate. Call the MACC to investigate Sanusi for what?," he added.

Yesterday, Fahmi urged police and the Election Commission to investigate claims by Sanusi that voters were being paid to return to vote in the Padang Serai election.

Fahmi said the claims, which implied that money politics was involved in the Dec 7 election, warranted an immediate investigation.
