KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah accused Barisan Nasional (BN) of being a greedy coalition over the formation of the new Pahang government.

Saifuddin said PN had been willing to negotiate with BN to form the new state government but the latter made unreasonable demands despite having fewer seats in the state assembly.

"PN was the coalition that received the biggest mandate from the people of Pahang. This mandate must be respected.

"PN was ready to negotiate (with BN) from the beginning to form the Pahang government.

"However, BN demanded the Menteri Besar's post and seven state executive commitee (exco) positions...they wanted to give us only one exco position," he wrote on Facebook today.

In the 15th General Election (GE15), Pahang faced its first-ever hung state assembly after no party secured a simple majority of 21 seats. PN won 17 out of 41 state seats, while BN garnered 16 and PH eight seats.

However, on Saturday, PH agreed to back BN to form the new state government.

Meanwhile, polling for the Tioman state seat, that was deferred following the death of PN candidate Md Yunus Ramli, will be held on Dec 7.
