KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has taken the stand to support Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to become the country's 10th Prime Minister.

Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said that they support the formation of the new federal government by cooperation and working together with PN and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) as well as other parties.

"I have met with PN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday (Nov 20).

"GRS believes that the formation of the next government needs to be done immediately to ensure that the country is able to fully function, especially in realising the implementation of the Budget for next year.

"GRS has decided to support PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the country's 10th Prime Minister and agree to form the federal government together with PN and political parties from Sarawak, GPS as well as other parties who are ready to work together," he said in a statement issued earlier today (Nov 21).

Hajiji, who is also Sabah Chief Minister, said that GRS are committed towards unity for the sake of the people and the country.

In the General Election (GE15) on Saturday, GRS won six Parliamentary seats in Sabah, while their partner Barisan Nasional (BN) won seven seats.

Hajiji's meeting with Muhyiddin in Kuala Lumpur yesterday (Nov 20) was also attended by GRS candidates who won Parliamentary seats in the General Election on Saturday.

Among those in attendance were Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (Keningau), Datuk Matbali Musah (Sipitang), Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali (Papar), Lo Su Fui (Tawau), Datuk Jonathan Yasin (Ranau) and Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan (Batu Sapi).
