SANDAKAN: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-Barisan Nasional will win more than 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seats in the state in the 15th General Election (GE15), coalition chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said.

He was responding to a call by caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who asked that the coalition reach its target, given the close cooperation among its component parties.

Ismail Sabri, who was in Libaran near here yesterday, had said Sabah would play a significant role in helping to form the government at the central level.

During an event at Kampung Bongaya Baru, Batu Sapi, near here, Hajiji said the GRS-BN state government emphasised development and unity as these were the foundations of the state's progress and stability.

He said both aspects were important for the future of Sabah and its people.

He said for that reason Sabahans needed to give victory to GRS-BN candidates in GE15.

"We must think about development politics, progress and unity politics.

"If you vote for a candidate who can't even form a government, you will just waste time. It is a loss.

"So, choose (GRS-BN) candidate No. 5 (Batu Sapi candidate Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan)," he said.

Khairul will face Pakatan Harapan's Liau Fui Fui, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air's Boni Yusof Juanico Abdullah, Parti Warisan's Alias Sani, and independent candidate Othman Ahmad for the Batu Sapi seat.
