TASEK GELUGOR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin has defended the coalition's manifesto as a comprehensive policy on economic matters with the intention of helping everyone in the country.

Debunking claims that PN's manifesto was shallow, he said maybe those who made such claims did not read the coalition's manifesto in accordance with what they intended to do.

He said those who made such claims should do some research because what the coalition had done was to come out with comprehensive policy on economic matters, with the intention of helping everyone in this country.

"We would like to be fair to everyone. Whatever we do is after joint research with economic professors, analysts and politicians who know the needs of the people.

"The most important thing is bread and butter issues," he said after a get together with the people in Taman Senangan in Teluk Air Tawar here this evening.

An analyst had expressed disappointment with PN's 15th general election (GE15) manifesto, saying it offered little on how to manage the economic downturn expected next year.

Dr Mohammad Tawfik Yaakub of Universiti Malaya had said the manifesto contained only "rebranded old promises" and lacked practical long- and short-term solutions to help the country weather the economic storm.

Elaborating, Hamzah said PN had given a good manifesto, with the best incentives and initiatives to the people and the country.
