ALOR GAJAH: Umno information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan believes that the sharing of a fake statutory declaration on Barisan Nasional's candidate for prime minister is evidence of their opposition's desperation in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said the stand that Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob would be the coalition's PM candidate has neither changed nor wavered.

He said the actions of those who are spreading the false SD would in no way weaken Umno's resolve to win the election.

"I am once again clarifying that the SD is false, especially the letter head, which is Umno's and not BN's. If they wanted to do a good job with it (faking the letter), it would have featured a BN letterhead. We can already see elements of falseness there," he said.

Shahril urged Umno leaders and members to reject the falsehoods being spread, especially given that the Umno president and BN chairman had already repeatedly stressed that Ismail Sabri was its sole PM candidate.

Shahril, who is BN's candidate for the Alor Gajah parliamentary seat, said he is actively explaining the issue to the people as well as championing the people's interest during the campaigning period.
