SUNGAI PETANI: Former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) senior officer Datuk Latifah Md Yatim is among 14 Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates to contest in Kedah parliamentary seats for the 15th General Election (GE15).

Latifah, who retired recently, will be contesting for the Sik parliamentary seat, held by Pas in the previous general election.

She had served as the MACC state director in Penang, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur and was the head of one of the MACC divisions in Putrajaya.

She had also served as the Tabung Haji's Integrity chief officer.

Her candidacy was announced by state PH Information chief Datuk Dr Ismail Salleh.

In another surprise move, PH will field state DAP deputy chairman Zulhasmi Shahril as its candidate for Jerai, a Malay-majority seat.

State PH chairman Datuk Mahfuz Omar said the decision to field a DAP candidate in Jerai was decided by PH's national leadership.

On e related matter, Mahfuz said PH will make an announcement soon on its candidate for Langkawi.

"We will make the announcement soon," he told reporters.

Mahfuz is defending his Pokok Sena parliamentary seat in the GE15.

PH won 10 parliamentary seats in Kedah in the GE14, three of them were won by the then Bersatu leaders who had since left to form Parti Pejuang Tanah Air.
