KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister today reminded Barisan Nasional (BN) top leadership and machinery that they have a duty to rebut and counter the "verbal assault" launched against the present administration.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said an attack against the federal government was equivalent to an attack against the BN leadership.

"We must realise that the (federal) government today is being led by Barisan Nasional and not the opposition.

"I am the Umno vice-president, which means I am (representing) BN.

"An attack against the government is similar to an attack against the BN leadership.

"That is why it is our duty to explain issues (or allegations made against the federal government)," said the Bera Member of Parliament in his speech at the Wanita BN Convention, here, today.

Ismail Sabri said these days, however, he noticed there were BN leaders and members who were influenced by criticism hurled against the federal government.

"Not only was there less people coming forward to counter the allegations (made against the federal government), there are also those who were influenced by these claims," he said.
