KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno will not give up any of its parliamentary seats that it won in the last general election, said its Beaufort division deputy chief Datuk Siti Aminah Aching.

"We will not compromise any of our seats even though some parties including Bersatu have insisted to defend at least six seats in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15)," said Siti.

She said this in response to Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Srikandi chief Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun who declared that the party wants to contest six parliamentary seats that it currently holds during GE15.

However, Siti reminded Azizah that the six seats won by Bersatu were under Umno tickets before they switched allegiance without the blessing from the grassroots.

"So, there is no reason for us to give away the seats to other parties in GE15. This is not only a decision made by the Umno supreme council but it was also a demand from the grassroots," she said.

Meanwhile, Umno Sipitang division secretary Abdul Rahman Mohd Noh asserted that Umno will defend the Sipitang seat because the people know it was won under an Umno ticket.

"We have activated at least 30 voting district centres and the party election machineries are all ready to face GE15.

"We are confident that Umno, with well organised strategies is able to restore Barisan Nasional as the pillar of the country's administration in GE15," he said.
