IPOH: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is considering to contest in Perak in the 15th General Election (GE15).

The opposition leader, however, said he would need time to dwell more into the possibility before making any decision.

"If you think I can (contest), I will think about it. I am actually considering it," he said.

The Port Dickson member of Parliament (MP) said this in a press conference after attending a state party leadership council meeting at the PKR headquarters here today.

When asked if he was expected to contest in the Tambun parliamentary seat, Anwar said that was one of the proposed branches but he had yet to make a final decision.

"Right now we are discussing seat allocation and machinery. In fact, my friends in Port Dickson begged me to remain there. So I have to think about it," he said.

Tambun parliament is currently being held by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president.

Anwar also announced that Tanjung Malim MP Chang Lih Kang had been appointed to head PKR's state leadership.

"Chang will continue leading the state party ahead of the next general election," he said.

On Feb 12, Gopeng MP Dr Lee Boon Chye had been appointed as interim chairman of Perak PKR to replace Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who had relinquished the post.
