PETALING JAYA: Embattled Pasir Salak member of parliament Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman is prepared to face the consequences from his tell-all press conference.

He said this includes calling for Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down as Umno President.

"If they play rough, I can do the same by contesting as an independent candidate (in the next general election).

"The majority (votes) that I had got during the previous general election (GE14) increased, although the party at the time was not spared by the political tsunami.

"Having said that, after 50 years with the party, my heart is still with Umno," he said here today at a press conference.

On reports that Pas was courting him to contest as its candidate in the Pasir Salak parliamentary constituency in GE15, Tajuddin in jest said he will consider it.

"It can be considered.  It is not a bad idea," he said tongue-in-cheek.
