KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun today rejected the opposition's motion to discuss issues related to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki's share ownership in the house.

This, Azhar said, after he did not receive any notice from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, for the matter to be included in today's agenda, which was to discuss the recent floods.

He, however, acknowledged accepting the notices submitted by two MPs; Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub (PH-Pulai) and Nga Kor Ming (PH-Teluk Intan).

"I have replied that this special session was called by the prime minister, at his absolute discretion.

"As such, I have no authority to oppose or accept the motion. The agenda for today's special sitting was set by the prime minister.

"(And) as of today, I did not receive any notice for the matter to be included, therefore I assumed that it was deemed not to be included in today's agenda," he said.

Earlier, Salahuddin asked for Azhar's permission for the motion to be included in today's special sitting.

He was joined by several opposition MPs, namely Nga Kor Ming (PH-Teluk Intan) and Gobind Singh Deo (PH-Puchong).

The special sitting today is to discuss the recent flood disaster.

Based on the order of the day, other than Ismail Sabri, to give briefings on the flood recent floods are Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Special Functions) Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad, Finance Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Environment and Water Minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
