ALOR SETAR: Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor today reminded Pas leaders against using social media to discuss the party's internal matters.

Sanusi, who is also Pas central working committee member, said such an act was not in line with the party's norms.

"The old hands in Pas will never use social media to air their opinion (on internal matters). This is also a disciplinary issue.

"As I always said 'pandai' (smart) people are always welcome, but 'pandai-pandai' (too smart for you own good) are not welcome.

"The act of writing on Facebook is considered as being "pandai-pandai", thus it is not welcomed (in Pas)," he told reporters after chairing the state Executive Council meeting at Wisma Darul Aman here today.

Athough Sanusi did not name anyone, it was understood that he was referring to Pas Bachok Member of Parliament Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.

Yesterday, Nik Abduh, in a Facebook posting urged Pas leadership to explain to the public reasons behind the removal of a former cabinet minister Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali as the party's central working committee member.

Nik Mohamad Abduh, who is also the party's central working committee member, said the explanation should be made public, instead of just limited to Pas members.

He added that the move would help to shape a favourable public perception towards Pas, since the party was part of the current ruling government coalition.

Commenting further, Sanusi stressed that there was no need to explain Mohd Khairuddin's removal in details to the public, as it would further complicate matters.

"It was a normal process and the party president himself has stated that it was concerning party disciplinary issue. There is no need to explain in detail as it will only lead to more problems.

"I think he (Mohd Khairuddin) himself knows very well the reasons (behind his removal) and this also include the person who wrote (the issue) on Facebook," he said.

Sanusi said he was present in the party's two high-level meetings to discuss Mohd Khairuddin's removal and the move was a consensus decision.

Mohd Khairuddin had been dropped as the central working committee member last Friday, less than two months after being appointed to the post.

It was reported that Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang confirmed Khairuddin's removal, adding that the decision to dismiss the 48-year-old Kuala Nerus MP was made in a party meeting held at its headquarters recently.

Khairuddin, formerly cabinet minister in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's government, had suggested that he was dropped following his push for Pas to continue working with Umno in the MN pact.
