KLANG: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) Wanita chief, Dr Daroyah Alwi said she decided to join the party as she believed in its six core pillars and that they were the way forward for the nation.

She said after she left PKR, she and several other ex-PKR members were looking for a suitable platform to serve the people.

"We tried to become part of another political party at the time but it did not work out. The members who left PKR were those who were doing plenty of work on the ground and also fighting for what PKR stood for at the time.

"However, some of us were sacked while others left for certain reasons. When we eventually heard about PBM, we decided that it was the kind of political platform we were looking for," she said when met here.

PBM outlined the six core pillars as multiracial engagement, women's empowerment, youth empowerment, economic development, education and the advancement of science and technology as elements to make Malaysia a developed country.

Dr Daroyah, who was the PKR deputy Wanita chief, relinquished all her positions in the party and also quit her positions as the Selangor PKR Wanita chief and Selangor Assembly deputy speaker in June, 2020.

"I have taken this decision as I have lost faith and confidence in the president and the party leadership, which has neglected the idealism and direction of the party's struggle which has now led to disunity.

"The party president (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) and his obsessive supporters have (betrayed) the trust placed on them by party members who had elected them," said the Sementa state assemblywoman at that time.

Apart from Dr Daroyah, 48 others from the Selangor Wanita leadership and Kapar division leadership, including youth leaders, had also resigned at that time.

She said another factor that motivated her to become part of PBM was the party's focus on women and youth.

"There are numerous talented women who can play a significant role in nation building and in PBM, they are given the chance to shine.

"Also, with the recent introduction of Undi-18, PBM also gives plenty of prominence to the development of youth, who are the future of our nation," she said.

She said she had numerous plans for the further development of the PBM Wanita wing and would be unveiling these in the near future.
