KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has called again for the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to be registered as a political coalition.

Bersatu Information chief Khairul Firdaus Akbar said it was time for Sabah leaders to be united to ensure the development agenda could be implemented under GRS.

"The call to register GRS as a political coalition entity is increasingly being heard and felt among the people of Sabah.

"The aspirations and hopes of the people should be translated to ensure a better future for the state and the people," he said in a statement.

Khairul added that he believed the existing leadership under the GRS government would be able to bring Sabah to the pinnacle of success.

GRS comprises Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah. It was formed during the 2020 state election.

He said the never-ending political situation in Peninsular Malaysia should prompt Sabah leaders to chart a direction based on the interests of Sabahan thoroughly.

"Courage and honesty among the leadership must exist to carry out the struggle agenda of the state of Sabah which has been lagging behind for so long in terms of development."
